
The local coverage of the Murdaugh family and their innumerable scandals has been respectable. However, both national and area coverage has focused largely on presenting content that's heavy on "true crime" sensationalism and stingy with providing important historical framing as well as a critical race and class analysis. Here are my thoughts on how this historically unethical family was able to build-out an exclusive justice system that served to fiercely protect their white wealth and power.
