Season 1 Episode 4: The Fate of a Manuscript with Dr. Dennis Bier
This is the first of two episodes with Dr. Dennis Bier, former editor of the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. In this episode we get an inside look into the process behind turning a research manuscript into a scientific publication. Dr. Bier gives his perspective on what it’s like to run a major scientific journal, as well as the quality of evidence he saw during his time at the AJCN. We also discuss the inherent biases associated with expertise, and the methods Dr. Bier used to minimize this when approaching a manuscript.
