We don’t know who needs to hear this, but nobody has their shit together 100 percent of the time — nobody. You can be excelling in one part of your life while another area is imploding. Those two states of being co-exist all the time, for everyone. Life is messy like that. And it's okay. What's not okay? Acting like you have it under control when you’re in a shame spiral. That’s where we come in. Messy Situations empowers people to bravely reveal the unfiltered parts of their lives without fear of judgement. Every week we'll reveal Messy Situations —big and small— submitted anonymously and shared by in-person guests, and then call in our Clean-Up Crew of wellness experts, mental-health pros, spiritual guides, energy healers, messy-life survivors and more to start mopping things up. We invite anyone who is willing to confess their own mess — even science says it’s good for the soul.

My Heart Failed at 26 — And That Was Just For Starters
When you’re a 20-something grinding it out in the nightlife and events industry in New York City, exhaustion is part of the deal. But when Sumanah Khan started feeling so unwell and fatigued that she had to go to the hospital, she wasn’t prepared for what doctors discovered: Her heart was enlarged and only working at a 5% capacity, likely the result of viral infection or some other toxic environmental exposure. Sumanah’s harrowing health crisis includes several faulty pacemakers, too many surgeries to count and an addiction to the opioid medications she was liberally given for pain. Sumanah’s healing and addiction recovery was further fueled by her passion for yoga and its ability to put us in touch with our body’s innate power and divine support. Also, don’t miss Kane’s monkeypox update at the top of the episode. Instagram: @messysitch @imkane @michprom @sumanahkhan Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
