Episode Teaser - Introduction to Menopause: The Future
Caroline Kelly here – host of Menopause: The Future! MENOPAUSE is HUGE in the zeitgeist right now, and we’re absolutely fascinated by the ramifications of perimenopausal and menopausal issues on mental health, access to hormone treatment if appropriate, issues related to a woman’s capacity to work and finance and improving education for all - including for the clinicians. So we’re taking a close look at as many of the 25 recommendations as we can, interviewing guests with varying opinions such as Becky Lo - a GP with debilitating lived-experience of perimenopausal depression, we speak to Dr. Sarah White - CEO of Jean Hailes for Women’s Health about workplace arrangements and flexibility, Kaz Cooke - on the dire situation of MHT shortages and some questionable unproven menopause supplements that are available, we speak to Dr. Louise Newson about the “Menopause Wars” between varying opinions in this space, but also - hopefully, how we can learn best practice from overseas clinicians (as per the Recommendations) and we round out the series with Senator Larissa Waters - Leader of the Greens in the Senate - who initially petitioned for the Inquiry to get her take on the recent official Government response to the Inquiry, and her views overall. This will prove, no doubt to be a vital source of information for all women aged 40 and over, considering the symptoms of perimenopause can often begin early in the decade. Prof. Jayashri Kulkarni and I invite you into the conversation very warmly - see you March 5!
