Hali started writing as a poet of the traditional Urdu ghazal and soon started emphasising upon the contemporary relevance of the narrative poetry and making a case for ‘natural poetry’ shorn of sentimentality, based in reality. This episode will introduce the listeners to the world of criticism in Urdu poetry initiated by Altaf Hussain Hali.
