ON THE BEAT - Episode 184 - Guy Robin
ON THE BEAT - MEET THE AUTHOR Podcast: LIVE - Episode 184
Originally aired LIVE Wednesday December 4,2024
Featuring Author GUY ROBIN.
ABOUT GUY: Guy grew up on the South coast of England, near Bournemouth. He lost his father when he was five and was brought up by his mother, who then secured his education at Reeds School in Surrey. At 21 he joined the Metropolitan Police Service, serving for 30 years in a variety of roles and departments, but regards his years at Battersea Police Station to have been his most enjoyable time in the Job!
Since retirement from the Police Guy had worked as a document collection and statement taking agent. He has been a driver for several driving agencies and ended driving for one private client. Guy is married to Paula and they spent many years in a quiet town in Sussex. In 2023 they made the decision to try something new. In July of 2023 they finally moved to a house in a small village in the Dordogne region of France.
The time and solitude afforded to him by the lockdown restrictions led to a fulfilment to write a piece of fiction in 2022. A second novel is now complete and is currently awaiting publication in early 2024. Guy has changed genre and written a historical fiction piece set during the first half of the 20th century.
Guy’s interests are many and varied. He played hockey for many years for the Police and then for Crowborough Hockey club, where he met his wife. Guy enjoys the outdoors, particularly walking great distances across the South Downs and now along the many French footpaths of his region. He collects GB, US and Olympic stamps and Scottish Malt whisky. He is a keen motorcyclist, having recently passed his Advanced motorcyclist qualification. He is looking forward to tearing around the highways and byways of Europe, hopefully with Paula clinging on too. Guy has more work in the pipeline. He is currently just finishing his third project, with a fourth in the development stage.

MURDERS IN THE FIRST DEGREE - Episode 182 - MBCC 2024 REVEAL PART 4
MURDERS IN THE FIRST DEGREE
MEET THE AUTHOR Podcast: LIVE - Episode 182
Originally aired LIVE Wednesday November 13 ,2024
Featuring Authors JAMES CALLAN, KELLY MARSHALL & JINX SCHWARTZ.
ABOUT JAMES: James R. Callan took a degree in English intent on writing. But when writing did not support a family, he returned to graduate school in mathematics. After graduate school, he worked at a research center for twelve years before he and his wife started a database company, which they ran for twenty-five years.
After a successful career in mathematics and computer science, receiving grants from the National Science Foundation and NASA, and being listed in Who’s Who in Computer Science and Two Thousand Notable Americans, (and all four of his kids graduated from college and self-supporting), James R. Callan turned to his first love—writing.
ABOUT KELLY: I always thought I would communicate in the world as a writer. As a child I was a voracious reader and knew someday I would pen a great novel. Life sometimes takes left turns though, and I went to broadcasting school instead of a four-year college. I wanted to be the next Barbara Walters and make a million a year. That didn’t happen, but I did spend thirty years having fun, spinning records, interviewing people, doing love song dedications. I had a ball until…
The U.S. Congress passed The Telecommunications Act of 1996 allowing broadcast corporations to own multiple radio stations in one market. The gobbling began and soon behemoth broadcasting corporations ate up radio stations like locusts in a wheat field. And radio announcers like me were axed on bloody Fridays with surgical precision. I was working for a small radio station for chump change. Something had to give. I left radio, went to work for the US Federal Government, and in my private hours, began doing what I really loved. Writing.
ABOUT JINX: USA TODAY BEST-SELLING AUTHOR, Jinx Schwartz is a ninth-generation Texan who lived and worked all over the planet before dropping from the corporate world to write and cruise. Living aboard a boat for many years in Mexico's Sea of Cortez inspired her Award-winning Hetta Coffey Series.

BROKEN HORIZONS - Episode 178 - JUAN VENEGAS
BROKEN HORIZONS
MEET THE AUTHOR Podcast: LIVE - Episode 178
Originally aired Wednesday October 16,2024
Featuring UK author JUAN VENEGAS
ABOUT JUAN: Juan obtained his PhD in physics from Edinburgh University in 2013. But don’t worry — he soon realized his mistake and started writing film scripts. He went on to create short films like Elle, Blind Justice, and Siguiente Nivel, which won multiple awards and were screened at international festivals. He also wrote others that won no awards and were utterly embarrassing. These things happen. He turned to prose in 2017 and published numerous short stories in prominent blogs such as The Creative Cafe, The Junction, and Data Driven Investor. In 2022, his first Spanish novel, Segunda Juventud, came out. You should totally read it if you speak Spanish. If you don’t, well, you might still like the cover art.
Broken Horizons is Juan’s second book. He’s currently working on a novel in which a controlling software engineer tries to restore order after everyone in the world swaps bodies with someone else. He’s also working on an Argentine tango novel in which everyone swaps partners all the time, but that’s a bit less dramatic.
Juan currently works as a technical writer. He’s very much in touch with AI and data science, from which he gathers inspiration for his next stories.

TAG - Episode 176 - JOSEPH CARRABIS
MEET THE AUTHOR Podcast: LIVE - Episode 176
Originally aired Wednesday October 2,2024
Featuring Author JOSEPH CARRABIS
ABOUT JOSEPH: Joseph Carrabis is the author of over a dozen novels and hundreds of short stories, including the Nebula-recommended Cymodoce and the Pushcart nominated The Weight. Raised by his maternal grandfather John, Joseph developed a thirst for knowledge that would motivate him to seek immersion within indigenous societies all over the world. These experiences compelled Joseph to help others and have inspired his writing. In addition to writing fiction, Joseph is the author of internationally best-selling non-fiction. Prior to becoming a full-time author, Joseph sat on several advisory boards including the Center for Multicultural Science and the Journal of Cultural Marketing Strategy. He was a Senior Research Fellow at the Society for New Communications Research, an Annenberg Fellow at the University of Southern California, and served with the UN/NYAS Scientists Without Borders program. Joseph was born in Melrose, MA, and currently lives in Nashua, New Hampshire with his wife, Susan, and their four-legged child, Boo. Blah blah blah... Personally, I think I'm rather boring and dull. I figured that wouldn't make good copy so I asked a bunch of friends how they'd describe me. Everybody said I was "intriguing". That's a nice double-edged word, don't you think? Kind of like something you want to stare at from a distance or with a good, solid, thick piece of steel reinforced glass between you and whatever you're looking at. Me, if I think something's intriguing, I want to know more about it but I don't want to get too close while getting to know more about it. Know what I mean?...

EXPLOSIVE EMOTIONS
MEET THE AUTHOR Podcast: LIVE - Episode 172
Originally aired Wednesday September 4,2024
Featuring Author KALE SUDHOFF
ABOUT KALE: My name is Kale Sudhoff, and I am currently 19 years old. I am busy attending college to become an Elementary School Teacher and am working as an Enrichment teacher at a local Preschool. I am a typical teenager hanging out with friends, but in my free time I love to write and illustrate children’s books. I have written and illustrated three children’s books. In the Fall of 2020, when I was a Sophomore in High School, I released my first book, "Danny the Duck Heads South," and in the Spring of 2022, when I was a Junior in High School, I released my second book, "Danny and Kevin Conquer Camping." Throughout my school years, I have seen kids being excluded for being different or having a disability, so I wanted "Danny and Kevin Conquer Camping" to raise awareness for Limb Loss and Limb Difference. My latest book, "Stewart H. Quills and His Explosive Emotions" was released in the Fall of 2023. I am on a mission to inspire children to thrive, regardless of their challenges. I am currently working on my next book, "Born to Stand Out," to raise awareness for Hearing Loss. A portion of every book sale is donated to The Aktion Club, a local organization for people with disabilities. I have recently connected with Allie Gray, Miss Ohio's Teen 2024 and together we have founded Silent Opportunities, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness and support for the hearing loss and deaf community. Our mission is to raise funds for the Ohio School for the Deaf and to award a scholarship to a local high school graduate impacted by hearing loss or disability.
