5. Christoph Spiessens: Befriending anxiety and spiritual bypassing.

Introducing our fourth guest, mindfulness teacher, certified coach and founder of The Manchester Mindfulness Festival, Christoph Spiessens. It was a true joy to chat to Christoph about how he first made contact with mindfulness and how mindfulness meditation supports his wellbeing. We cover many topics such as:

  • How mindfulness has been the bedrock of Christoph learning how to to befriend and manage anxiety.
  • Christoph's first contact with Buddhist meditation and mindfulness concepts in Japan when working as cabin crew for Japan Airways. 
  • A discussion about his experience and understanding of spiritual bypassing.
  • Trusting in the twists and turns of life and each of our own unique path. 
  • What spirituality means to Christoph within his practice of mindfulness and how that can co-exist with his passion for the academic and scientific exploration of mindfulness meditation.

I am mindfulness meditation teacher based in Cornwall in the UK and I am trained through Bangor University to teach Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). This is an evidence-based 8 week mindfulness course that draws from the ancient wisdom of Buddhist meditation, modern psychology and neuroscience to support you to shift your relationship to stress in your life to reduce unnecessary struggle and experience greater peace and ease.
