2. Professor Rebecca Crane: I meditate because I care about the world

In this episode, I have the absolute pleasure of introducing my very first guest Professor Rebecca Crane, who is the Director of The Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice (CMRP) at Bangor University in Wales in the UK. Rebecca played a leading role in the development of Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and has many years of experience training mindfulness teachers on the Mindfulness Masters Program at Bangor University.

In this episode, she shares the story of how her personal meditation practice began at age 16 and how it has supported her over the years, alongside so many nuggets of wisdom to support you in your mindfulness practice.

In the episode we cover topics such as:

  • Working with striving, perfectionism and trying to be “good” at meditation.
  • How Rebecca’s mindfulness practice changed shape to support her having children.
  • The support of a meditation practice when difficult things happen in life.
  • How mindfulness allows us to see the unhelpful patterns playing out in our relationships and communication.
  • Advice for starting a mindfulness practice and how to keep inspired to keep going.
