10. Vici Williams: Revealing our essential compassionate and loving nature.

In this episode, I have the huge pleasure of talking to my teacher and supervisor, Vici Williams. She shares her wisdom from her 25 years of committed practice and her 16 years of teaching. Vici takes us on an adventure from her childhood in Cornwall, to practicing yoga in her twenties, to her first contact with Buddhism travelling in India and Nepal in the early 1990s, to her her meetings with the HH Dalai Llama and the beginnings of her teaching mindfulness within the NHS mental health team.

Vici also-founded the CIC Cornwall Mindfulness, alongside mindfulness teacher and Occupational Therapist Paula Fairweather: http://mindfulnesscornwall.co.uk/

In this episode we will cover themes such as:

  • At the heart of the meditation tradition Vici has practiced within is that our essential nature is compassionate and loving, and our practice is about revealing that rather than trying to fix or change ourselves.
  • Vici's inspiring connection with Buddhist communities in Nepal and India in the early 1990's.
  • How there are many doorways into meditation practice and it's about finding the right one for you.
  • The importance of finding what inspires you to stay connected with practice over time.
  • How Vici connected with her teacher Mingyur Rinpoche through Samye Ling Monastery and Tibetan Centre in Scotland.

Vici is also a wonderful Mindfulness Teaching Supervisor and you can find out more about this here: https://supervision.mindfulness-network.org/choose-a-supervisor/vici-williams/

Find a Mindfulness-Based Course Teacher in the UK (also lots of online teachers for those not in the UK), a great place to look is the BAMBA website: https://bamba.org.uk/ BAMBA stands for British Association of Mindfulness-Based Approaches.

The podcast will drop every on the first Friday of each month from Oct 2023. Happy listening, happy meditating.
