Counterterrorism, Islam and the British Security State

This episode of Media Mind will dwell on the connections between global counterinsurgency warfare and the domestic 'war on terror' being fought in the UK through policing, counterterrorism, and counter-extremism policy, law, and practice. Dr. Tarek Cherkaoui hosts Dr. Rizwaan Sabir who shares his scholarly research and first-hand experience with the British counterterrorism apparatus. The discussion will examine the impact that two decades' worth of policing and counterterrorism had on the state of mind of Muslims in Britain and some of the ways the media is being used as a battlefield in this context.
