The winter snows are melting. The Sun arcs higher in the sky. Life returns to the Appalachian Mountains as one man leaves them. Haggard, bearded, and hungry, but successful in his search, he returns with an important secret that might protect billions of lives from the coming darkness. With the hidden contents in his backpack, there just may be a chance to save civilization.

Only civilization’s not there. The streets are empty, the buildings are abandoned, and the radio is quiet. No evidence remains of what happened to humanity. There are no signs of war, no bodies, and no articles about the end. Noah Fulmer wanders this empty earth in search of the truth, only to find his own mental state coming apart at the seams as the loneliness becomes unbearable.

Given enough days spent investigating, he could crack the mystery of the vanished human race, but time proves to be short. Lost in an empty world and surrounded by solitude, he soon finds himself disturbingly less than alone.
