With decades of combined experience shaping the look of major films and series, Maxine and Roman will share insights into their creative process, collaboration with directors and DPs, as well as the evolving role of color in visual storytelling. Moderated by acclaimed Cinematographer Christine Ng, this panel will explore real-world workflows, case studies from recent projects, and the powerful emotional impact of color grading in post-production. Senior Colorist Maxine Gervais notes an illustrious career, having collaborated on over 50 blockbuster and critically acclaimed feature films. She has been recognized for her exceptional work, garnering two Hollywood Professional Association (HPA) nominations for Outstanding Color Grading – Feature Film, for her work on Hughes Brothers’ "The Book of Eli" and Guillermo del Toro’s "Pacific Rim." Gervais made Hollywood history as the first woman to receive an HPA award for Outstanding Color Grading for Albert Hughes’ Alpha. Gervais’ credits include Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther, Robert Zemeckis’ Here, Clint Eastwood’s "Cry Macho," Peacock’s "The Continental: From the World of John Wick," Hulu’s "Nine Perfect Strangers," Netflix’s The Brothers Sun, Universal Pictures’ Strays, and Sundance Grand Jury Prize Winner, A Thousand and One, directed by A.V. Rockwell. With a background in classical arts, Gervais earned her B.A. in visual art from Laval University in Quebec, demonstrating her passion for creative expression through color and technology. Recognizing the potential applications in the digital world, she furthered her education by obtaining a post-graduate certificate in computer technology for cinema and television. Gervais is also an Associate Member of the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC). Roman Hankewycz collaborates with some of the most established filmmakers in the advertising and entertainment industries, including Spike Lee, Martin Scorsese, Andrew Ahn, Nathaniel Kahn, Brian Koppelman, Ari Aster, William Rexer (ASC), Tim Ives (ASC), Pawel Pogorzelski, Eric Lin, Edu Grau (ASC), and Errol Morris. Hankewycz lends his color expertise to restoring Criterion Collection titles alongside celebrated filmmakers such as Martin Scorsese on his collection of early works as well as the iconic concert film "Last Waltz," the Hughes brothers and Lisa Rinzler on "Menace II Society", Ed Lachman to reimagine the color palate for Mira Nair's "Mississippi Masala," Bette Gordon on "Variety," Bill Pope on the Wachowski's "Bound," and Terence Malik on his masterpiece "Days of Heaven." His ongoing collaborations include working with Ari Aster and Pawel Pogorzelski on both "Midsommar" and "Beau is Afraid," produced by A24. Other recent entertainment credits include Lesli Linka Glatter’s "Zero Day," Ron Howard’s "Jim Henson: Idea Man," Hulu’s "We Were the Lucky Ones," HBO's "Love & Death," Netflix’s "Halston," Chiwetel Ejiofor’s "Rob Peace," Spike Lee’s "NYC Epicenters 9/11-2021 1/2," Rebecca Hall’s "Passing," Starz’s "P-Valley," and Ken Burns’ "College Behind Bars." Deondray Gossfield is an American producer, director, screenwriter, and actor. . He is known for "The Chi," "The Chadwick Journals," and "Legendary." He has been married to Quincy LeNear Gossfield since 2014. Deondray and his husband, Quincy LeNear Gossfield wrote "Had U," which won first place at Showtime's Digital Media Festival for Best Experimental Short in 2000. Thereafter, The Gossfields worked on "The DL Chronicles," and thereafter gained work as producers on reality TV shows such as "America's Best Dance Crew," "The Sing Off," "Shake It Up Make Your Mark Ultimate Dance Off," "Family Dance Off," "The World Dog Awards," "Roast of Justin Bieber," and the talk show "Kocktails with Khloé." Quincy LeNear Gossfield is a Director, Producing Director/Supervising Producer of Paramount+ Showtime's acclaimed hour-long drama series "The Chi." He and his spouse/partner, Deondray Gossfield, are dubbed the "Godfathers of LGBTQ+ TV." They are the creators, writers, and directors of the iconic GLAAD award-winning anthology series, "The DL Chronicles," a predecessor of LGBTQ POC series such as "POSE." "The DL Chronicles" achieved the historic distinction of becoming the first African American cable TV series to be nominated and win the GLAAD Media Award in 2008. The Gossfields later created and directed the Amazon Prime spin-off series "The Chadwick Journals," which won the 2021 Telly Award and garnered a 2020 Daytime Emmy® Nomination. As a TV producer in both narrative and unscripted, Gossfield has developed and produced specials and scripted series for networks such as Cinemax, ABC, Disney Channel, MTV, Sony Television, CBS, CW, SyFy, Comedy Central, and more. For the first ten years of LeNear's diverse career, he found success as a television and film actor, having co-starred and appeared in multiple motion pictures, TV series, and national television commercials. He is an active member of the Director's Guild of America, the Producer's Guild of America, and the Screen Actors Guild. He and his partner/spouse are the co-founders of the Russelli & Hall Company production company.
