A three-part ragtime tune that I wrote in 1968. Analog recording 1997.

This song was written for my wife. Our daughter, Jordan, played the piano on the "vox" intro with me playing harmony on the mandolin. I played lead and harmony mandolins. Polly Launay played violin and Matt Ludwig played the piano.

Just a little solo mandolin holiday cheer.

I decided to record another soundclip of my Loar LM-400VS mandolin with the current two week old D'Addario Medium Phosphor Bronze J-74 strings on it. I am using the rounded end of my Blue Chip TAD50 pick, which I have been using lately exclusively now on the mando. It gives it a little deeper/rounder tone I think. See what you think.

This is a collaboration between Tom (guitar) and I (mando) from over at the Flkatpicker's Hangout. He layed down the guitar and left some spaces for me to insert some mando. I downloaded his song & added mando to it, and saved it as you have it now. Pretty simple but we enjoy it. Anyone wanting to participate and collaborate feel free to come over to the "Collaborations" group over at the FHO and join up. Any instrument welcome, although most songs will be guitar based, or at least have SOME guitar in there. This is a tune I first heard played by Wayne Harrell (a mandolin player from Lawerceburg TN). He learned it from the Portland Collection Book Vol. 1 and I think it is a French Canadian tune. I like it and it has become a standard in our jam session. I recorded it with just four mandolin parts, a chop, lead and two harmony parts. Hope you enjoy it.

I love this tune and while I now play it with fiddle, I started with it on my mandolin. Here is me playing mando and Dennis Russell playing guitar. I'd call it old time style.
