Welcome! My name is Cassie Blandford. I am a graduate from Murray State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in food, nutrition, and dietetics. This podcast is for dietetic students who are either focusing on their undergrad, just graduated and going into an internship, or those studying for their exam. I will be talking about subjects such as what options we have as dietitians and I will also be having “student sessions” which will review medical nutrition therapy for diseases. Once I begin my own internship, I will do recaps of the week to help prepare others for their own internships!

Lifecycle: Adult & Older Adult

Sorry for the delay, I have been home home for the week! But today we discuss adult and older adult nutrition starting at the age of 21 and going until death. We discuss the important body changes and some recommendations. This episode is relatively short and to the point, but full of good information concerning your health!

Energy Needs Estimation Equations:

Mifflin-St. Jeor Equation:

Men: (10 × weight in kg) + (6.25 × height in cm) - (5 × age in years) + 5.

Women: (10 × weight in kg) + (6.25 × height in cm) - (5 × age in years) - 161.

Multiply that value with the following activity factor:

Sedentary: 1.2

Lightly active: 1.375

Moderately active: 1.55

Very active: 1.725

Extra active: 1.9
