Having prepared their hearts to develop different attitudes that mirror His character, Jesus invites His followers to employ those qualities in their choices, in their actions, and in their hearts. He challenges them to obey without seeking the endorsement of their fellow man, but rather to trust that their pure motives are seen by an all-knowing God. In this text, Jesus addresses the anxiety we feel when we care too deeply for what others think. Seek Him first and His righteousness and all the things we need will be provided.
