
The Iconic Jesse Rae is Scotland's pioneer of Funk music. Having worked with some major artists across the world within the industry of funk including Bernie Worrell, Nairobi Sailcat and Michael Hampton from Parliament / Funkadelic. Jesse also worked closely with the American producer Roger Troutman founder of the band ZAPP who helped spearhead the funk movement and heavily influenced West Coast Hip-Hop. He has also penned some memorable chart-topping songs during his career. Sporting his traditional Scottish highland outfit's and a 6ft claymore, Jesse is a force of funk nature. In this episode, we start back in Jesse's early days of the mid-'70s with his journey from Scotland to America and his time with the Space Cadets and Strange Parcels. His chance meetings with Bernie Worrell and his love for funk. All this accumulating in 1985 with the release of his Scottish P-Funk album "The Thistle".
