Earl Cate

Born December 26, 1942, Earl Cate has been a part of music history. Earl and his twin brother Ernie started a group called the Cates Gang, eventually getting a record deal with Asylum with the help of friend Levon Helm. From there 1975 album Cate Bros., the song Union Man hit number 24 on the Billboard Hot 100. With appearances on American Bandstand and the Midnight Special, the Cate Brothers following slowly grew. In the early 1980s, the brothers joined the reformed Band with Levon Helm, Rick Danko, Richard Manuel, and Garth Hudson. The Cate Brothers would release a few more albums including Radioland and Struck a Vein. Earl has his own band called Earl and Them, which has released three albums to date. Join me as I interview Earl Cate.
