This episode is to honor my Madrecita Maria Guadalupe and her life journey growing up, coming to America, and her shitty luck with men. I want to say thank you to all the single mothers out there. I know firsthand it is far from easy but you are still out there doing it! My mom was born in El Guayabito where at the time there were only 2 houses. Then she moved to her grandfather's ranch in Soriyo Jalisco. She then moved to Guachinango where she lived for a few years until she decided to leave home and move to Guadalajara at the age of 13. I can't even imagine leaving at such an early age and already having to work to support yourself and the family for that matter. She met the first love of her life in Guadalajara in her 20s when she met my brother's dad who was a bullfighter and got pregnant. Unfortunately, she was not able to give him the good news because he went to Spain and never came back. A bull killed him and his family wanted to take my brother away from her. That was when she had no choice but to leave and come to America. She crossed through T.J. with my brother and she, unfortunately, got detained one of the officers grabbed her breast while she was getting searched and she defended herself. She ended up in jail for 3 weeks and was released back to Mexico. Regardless she came back and eventually was able to become a citizen because of Ronald Reagan's Immigration Reform. I go into detail of her bad luck with men including my dad. My point of view as a child growing up with a single mother and how it made me and shaped me to be the woman I am today. Thank you to all the single mothers out there, I respect and honor you all more than you know!
