When one is described as, "Machiavellian," he or she is described as a person who is deceptive and crafty. The functionality of the various masks of narcissists becomes very complex, if you attempt to make sense of the of crazy making. One function of fear is to ensure blindness of what is true and what is reality. The seductive words of the false self-image can be appealing until or unless one challenges the narcissist or the cluster B personality. During a narcissistic rage or narcissistic injury episode, the words of the narcissist or cluster B personality turns from appealing to abusive, however; those who are on the receiving end will possibly believe and internalize the lies spoken about him or her. Another function of fear is to encourage one to become anxious about who they are, his or her future and life in general. As long as the narcissist and cluster B personality can keep targeted prey in a state of anxiety and pandemonium (confusion), the false self-image become stronger.
