#69: Aging Against the Machine

Been gone for a minute but we are finally back with another new and funny episode of the podcast. We kick things off with LL Cool J's comments on rappers retiring on Sway In The Morning. Before kicking a freestyle on the show, he talks about how rap isn't a sport and calls out those who flirt with want to retire as a way of being bored with their careers. The marauders give their take on LL's words on retirement and why we shouldn't fall for it. After that, we talk about ageism in hip hop today after rapper Asian Doll wrote in a now deleted post on Twitter/X that people who are trying to make it in rap at/over the age of 30 is crazy. With the word going around thanks to DJ Akademics, other rappers sounded off on the post through social media as well. Nick and Jared give their thoughts on Asian Doll's post and also comment on Gillie Da Kid's comment on stop rapping past the age of 35 months ago on his podcast. Plus they ask if there should be an age limit on people trying to rap and make it in the rap game. Later, after celebrating 50 years of rap/hip hop on August 11th, many publications from Rolling Stone to Complex have made lists on the best rappers/groups/songs of all time by celebrating. Rappers have also voiced their opinions on some lists and some have even ask people on why certain rappers haven't made these lists and ask why they were overlooked. California rapper Mistah F.A.B. asked while watching the Hip Hop 50 concert from Yankee Stadium why MC Hammer wasn't a part of the show due to his contributions in the early 90s. Producer Pete Rock, asked why his late cousin Heavy D didn't get his name onto any lists after what Pete Rock said Heavy D did for the genre. We ask who should have been recognized more out of the two legends on these lists. All that a brand new game with hip hop videos, laughs, album recommendations, shout outs and more!!
