Darling's restful sleep on the flight is interrupted by a hostess and Duke. They informed her that the plane had been diverted to Mombasa due to an issue at the Nairobi airport. Darling agrees to move to the section of the plane where Duke sits. In Mombasa, Duke continues to show kindness and care towards Darling. She finds herself growing more and more smitten with Duke. Duke then invites Darling to dinner before he leaves for Tanzania in a few days. As their flight is ready to board again, Darling reflects on their interaction, surprised by how much she has grown to like Duke quickly. She finds herself intrigued and eager for more.
