Loud About Loss is the podcast that refuses to whisper about grief. Here, we say the quiet parts out loud - the gut-wrenching pain, the awkward silences, the well-meaning-but-awful clichés. If you’ve lost a child, if you’re navigating the messy middle of sorrow and survival, if you’re tired of grief being a taboo topic - welcome. This is a space where we get real about loss, mental health, and the wild, unpredictable journey of learning to live again. No sugarcoating. No toxic positivity. Just raw stories, unfiltered conversations, and a whole lot of heart. Let’s get loud.

23 | What If I Never Go Back to Who I Was before my child died?

After losing my daughter, one of the questions I couldn’t stop asking myself was: “What if I never go back to the person I was before?”

Maybe you’ve thought that too. I used to think if I just worked harder, smiled bigger, or hustled more, I could somehow claw my way back to “before.” But here’s the truth: we don’t go back. We go forward. And forward can actually be good—because forward is where God is.

In this episode, I’m sharing the messy, honest truth about chasing your “old life” and why God isn’t calling you back—He’s calling you forward. I’ll walk you through some practical things that helped me, like journaling with God, letting go of the “before me,” and trying small new things that remind me I’m still being made new.

If you’ve ever felt stuck in the ache of missing who you were, I hope this conversation helps you take a deep breath and remember: your identity isn’t in your grief, it’s in Christ. And the new life He’s creating in you is worth stepping into.
