Look up, Slow Down, Step Out | Christians, Nature, Mental Health

Life gets complicated. We over commit ourselves with too many obligations and responsibilities that we don’t have time to slow down. We wake up after not enough sleep just to go through a day with not enough hours in it to accomplish the things that we say we “need” to get done. Our brains run at 1000 miles an hour moving from one task to the next, trying to decide the best way to prioritize things. We convince ourselves that this is just how life is supposed to be. After all, we’re adults. We get busy heads, filled with stress and anxiety that causes us to fall into autopilot which in return produces a life that we can’t enjoy. What if that doesn’t have to be the case? In this podcast, I’m offering my advice and experience to christians that love nature but find themselves caught up in the stress of life. I will be explaining my developing mindset on how to slow down in a life with God, how to plan a trip in the backcountry, the safety concerns, proper gear, and even some amazing places that I recommend checking out. I’m Charlie Rogers and I’m a college student at the University of Northern Iowa. I am part of the college ministry Chi Alpha (Christs ambassadors) and have a love for nature. I major in RTNL (Recreation, Tourism, And nonprofit leadership), and lead outdoor adventure trips through the University that I attend. I’m all too familiar with the feeling that you can get when life has you by the ropes due to a mixture of not enough sleep, a crazy amount of responsibility, a messy house, and to top it all off, too much month at the end of your money. My advice… Look up, Slow down, Step out.
