"Living On Music with Steve Houk" has interviewed over 150 musicians since it began in 2020, from both the super-talented Washington DC music community as well as musical legends from around the world. Host Steve Houk, a three-time Emmy-winning TV writer & producer/music writer and musician, describes the journeys he takes every show, whether it's a deep dive or a brief meetup: “My main objective is to enrich and captivate musicians and music people, let them engage and reminisce about their musical ride, often remembering their triumphs and their challenges, all while educating and entertaining their fans new and old and the public as well. It’s been the most exciting, fulfilling and rewarding experience, both professionally and personally, in my 38-year television and media career.”

Sherry Rayn Barnett on Living On Music
Sherry Rayn Barnett is a widely published and respected music photographer specializing in live performance, and has been in the ‘Eye of the Music’ (title of her recent photography book chronicle) since capturing the most white-hot seconds onstage, as well as the unguarded intimacies and the bolt of creativity, whether in the studio or at home. One of the best music concert photographers in the world, Sherry's archives span nearly 50 years, documenting a "who's who" of pop music from legends like Janis Joplin, BB King and Tina Turner, to contemporary favorites in rock, folk, jazz, blues and country.  Her first book covering two iconic decades of music photography, the widely-praised “Eye of the Music,” is a comprehensive collection of all the images, all the moments, all the schools of music that have been part of the first two decades of one of the most far-reaching careers in modern rock photography. It is the first collection of her work, covering the first two decades of iconic performers, from 1969-1989, and it has been said that “the book is worth 1,000,000 words" (Bill Bentley, Americana Highways) and "is a feast for eyes and souls" (Henry Carrigan). Sherry has photos featured in Rolling Stone & Life Magazine special editions, The NY Times and LA Times among others. Her images, including Prince’s first LA performance, have been seen at the Exhibit at The Grammy Museum (2023/2024), “50 Years of The Roxy” featured iconic prints of her work. She remains active with The SOKA Performing Arts Center in Mission Viejo, 2023/2024, photographing legends including Judy Collins, Sergio Mendes, Dionne Warwick. She closed out 2024 with her photograph representing Bonnie Raitt at the Kennedy Center Honors ceremony.
