Before he helped define the sound of southern jangle-pop, Chris was in New York, deep in the downtown scene, playing with one of the most adventurous musical collectives of the 1980s: The Golden Palominos. The group blurred every boundary—rock, jazz, punk, ambient—and became a kind of musical laboratory for some of the era’s most inventive players.
