Philosophers, scientists and public intellectuals have been debating the topic of free will for centuries now, and yet one rarely hears this topic discussed beyond a small academic circle. Despite how consequential this topic is, the conversation about it seems to be restricted to just a handful of people.
In this episode professor Christian List and I discuss his latest book “Why Free Will is Real”. The hope is to start a broader public discourse about the topic of free will and spark further curiosity into one of the most important intellectual debates.
Christian List is a professor of Philosophy and Political Science at the London School of Economics. He did his graduate studies at the University of Oxford and before joining LSE he held positions at Harvard, Princeton, MIT and other universities. He has received several awards, including the Philip Leverhulme Prize in Philosophy, the 5th Social Choice and Welfare Prize (with F. Dietrich) and a Laurance S. Rockefeller Visiting Fellowship at the Princeton Center for Human Values
