In the premier episode of Lipstick & Lies, host Jami Rice walks co-host Melissa Moore through the Gilgo Beach Murders case from beginning to end. Jami begins her coverage with potential murder victim Shannon Gilbert’s frantic 9-1-1 call on May 1, 2010, and ends with Rex Heuermann’s July 2023 arrest for allegedly being the Long Island Serial Killer. Melissa then picks up the story from her unique perspective as she recently flew to New York to meet with Asa Ellerup, the estranged wife of Rex Heuermann. Asa gave Melissa a tour of their family home, which had already been raided by federal authorities. Melissa describes her interactions with Asa Ellerup as well as some of her observations of the home, including the now infamous “soundproof room.” By the end of this episode, you’ll understand key information and events that have transpired in this long-standing and complex murder case. You’ll also get exclusive insight from someone who has met with the alleged serial killer’s estranged wife, and been inside of their family home.
