Nobody Cares (As Much As You Do)

No one cares about your goals...

And this my friend, is great news.

It means you don’t have to worry about what others think of you because they have something way more important on their minds - themselves. Most people are far more concerned about going about their own day and doing their own thing.

Many people tend to forget this simple fact and on this episode I explore why remembering that few people really care about you can actually really help with reaching your big goals!

You Don't Always Have To Be Making Progress

Are you addicted to making progress in your life?

Whether it's in your personal life or professional life, sometimes it's okay to take breaks, rest or simply maintain your current situation in life without constantly striving for advancement or improvement.

Sometimes just being where you are is enough, and there's no need to feel pressured to always be moving forward. But of course this is easier said than done a lot of the time, because we live in a world that constantly encourages us to push forward and focus on making serious progress.

I used to be someone that was constantly pushing for progress in all parts of my life but it eventually led to burnout, so allowing yourself periods of stability can be vital for both your mental health and productivity. It took me a long time to realise that focusing on appreciating where you are in life is often just as valuable as constantly chasing after the next goal and the next goal.

Maintaining a healthy balance between progress and rest/stability can ensure that you continue working towards your goals in the long-term and on this episode I explore why it's absolutely okay (and actively encouraged) to sometimes have chapters in your life where you aren't making any real progress at all!

Small Changes Can Make A Big Difference

The idea of making small changes can sometimes feel underwhelming. After all, how much difference can a single, minor action make in transforming your life?

On this episode I look at why small changes can be the most powerful when it comes to making impactful positive changes to your life.

It's easy to assume that big radical changes will only generate big transformations when actually the opposite is often true - small consistent changes can make a big difference in your life in so many different ways.

How To Overcome Your Brain's (Annoying) Fixation on Bad Things!

Do you tend to have more negative or positive thoughts?

For most of us, the answer is negative.

That's partly because of the negativity bias. This is an innate cognitive bias that results in adverse events having a more significant impact on your psychological state than positive events.

It means that you tend to give more importance to negative experiences than to positive experiences, and that you tend to focus on the negative even when the negative experiences are insignificant and inconsequential.

The negativity bias therefore has a very powerful impact on your behaviour and thoughts, but being aware of it means that you can start to take proactive steps to adopt a more positive outlook on life and ensure that you overcome your brain's (annoying) fixation on bad things!

Learning about the negativity bias was an absolute game changer for me and on this episode I share a key practice that can help you to overcome it.

Why You Should Find Time To Be Alone With Yourself

How do you feel about spending time alone?

In today's 24/7 connected world, it's important not to confuse loneliness with time by yourself. Where loneliness is marked by negative feelings associated with isolation, alone time can actually involve finding freedom, creative inspiration and rejuvenation in solitude.

Having time for yourself gives you the chance to break free from social pressures and tap into your own thoughts, feelings and experiences. Alone time can be positive for your mental health and becoming comfortable in your own company can give you the time and freedom to truly explore your own passions without external interference.

While humans are of course social creatures and connection and community is absolutely vital, on this episode I explore why a little solitude every now and then can go a long way in helping you build a happier and healthier life.

Focus On Progress, Not Perfection

Are you a perfectionist? Are you guilty of spending an insane amount of time on trying to get something perfect? Does this approach ultimately hold you back from achieving your goals?

Progress over perfection means focusing on what you've already achieved so far and being proud of the work you've put towards a goal - even if it's not 100% perfect.

Progress reminds you that it's okay to make mistakes and encourages you to celebrate your achievements along the way, no matter how small they are. While perfectionism is paralysing and can feel very overwhelming at times, focusing on making progress is liberating.

On this episode I look at why focusing on making steady progress towards your goals is a healthier and more effective approach than trying to be a perfectionist. I explore why making consistent progress rather than striving for flawlessness is going to help you achieve your goals and look after your mental health in the long-term.

How To Build Trust With Yourself To Hit Your Goals

Do you trust yourself? Have you ever set yourself a goal and not followed through with it?

Building trust with yourself is one of the most helpful and important things you can do for you in your life.

It can help build your confidence, reduce your stress levels and increase the chance of you hitting your goals.

However sometimes we can lose trust in ourselves after we make a big mistake or we don't follow through on our word to do something that we said we were going to do.

The good news is that even if you don’t trust yourself right now, with dedicated time, effort and energy you can begin to build up that trust with yourself over time and start to experience the many positive benefits that come from this.

Harnessing The Power Of Positive Self-Talk

How do you talk to yourself each day?

Self-talk is your internal dialogue. It’s influenced by your subconscious mind and it reveals your underlying thoughts, beliefs and assumptions.

Self-talk can be both negative and positive. Positive self-talk involves consciously adopting optimistic, supportive and compassionate language when addressing ourselves and working through any challenges that we are facing.

It can help increase your self-confidence as well as help curb the negative thought patterns that can put you in a low mood and generate feelings of helplessness.

On this episode I look at how daily positive self-talk is a powerful habit that can help you improve your outlook on life and which offers many lasting positive mental health benefits.

Too Much Instant Gratification Can Lead To Dissatisfaction

In today’s fast-paced world, the desire for instant gratification has become deeply ingrained in society. We want things quickly, easily and with extreme convenience.

This new obsession with immediate satisfaction can be seen in various aspects of our lives, from our buying habits, the way that we eat and the way we try nowadays to find love.

But while humans are hard-wired for instant gratification for different evolutionary reasons, in the modern world, indulging in our desire for instant gratification too often can result in various negative consequences.

On this episode l explore why you may want to start prioritising delayed gratification instead - especially when it comes to building fulfilling relationships and cultivating a genuine sense of happiness in your life.

How Changing Your Body Language Can Radically Improve Your Life

How often do you think about your body language?

Body language means nonverbal communication such as eye contact, hand movements and gestures.

Most of the time, our body language is unconscious. We move naturally in certain ways but this means we are commonly unaware of the powerful signals that we are sending others through our bodies.

Being able to understand your own body language signals can allow you to take charge in how you come across when communicating with people and allows you to directly impact things like your daily energy levels, mood and confidence.

On this episode I explore why becoming aware of your body language can hugely help you to grow as a person and can powerfully support you in hitting your different exciting goals in all parts of your life.

Understand What Game You Are Playing In Life

What game are you currently playing in your life?

What does success actually look like to you?

Many of us can get caught in the trap of comparing ourselves to other people who are playing a completely different game to us in life. People who have completely different goals, priorities, values and definitions of success to us. This is pointless and can lead to a lot of unhappiness and discontentment.

On this episode I look at why it's therefore important to think about what specific game you're currently playing in your own life, as this can help you to understand everything you need to feel genuinely happy, successful and fulfilled.

By clearly defining and understanding what game you're playing, you get to decide what success looks and feels like in your own life.

How To Find More Balance In Your Life & Escape Toxic Productivity

Do you ever feel guilty for not always being productive?

Setting goals and working hard to accomplish them produces a lot of satisfaction and increases feelings of self-worth. Productivity of this kind is good and healthy and can really enhance both your personal and professional life.

But toxic productivity is the complete opposite of this. Toxic productivity is the drive to be productive at all times in all areas of your life. It often happens when you push yourself to unhealthy extremes in order to accomplish more, usually at the expense of your physical and mental health.

On this episode I look at how you can develop a healthier relationship with productivity so that you are able to hit your goals and make progress in your life, without this being at the expense of your health and happiness.
