Life, Coached.

I’m Kimberly Mathis, a therapist-turned-coach, and I’m not here to sell you some perfect version of life. On Life, Coached., we’re talking about the real stuff: the relationships that get messy, the patterns that keep showing up, and the moments when everything feels like it’s falling apart. Episodes are a healthy dose of real talk + coaching magic - on topics from navigating ADHD, to codependency, to faith deconstruction, or bisexuality, and whatever else is going on that day. No quick fixes or endless pep talks. It’s about the small, doable steps we can actually take to make life better.

Ep. 27 - "Coaching Should Be Regulated" & Other Common Criticisms of the Coaching Industry

I'm a therapist-turned-coach, with openings for 1:1 clients. If you're looking for someone to help you change things that feel unchangeable, schedule a complimentary consultation to see if I'm the best fit for you.

Full disclosure: this episode was prompted by an algorithmic gift on the 'Gram - a post titled "The Scam of Millennial Motivational Coaches." Not only was I offended by the mention of my generational label (millennials are AMAZING, ok??), but I had so many issues with the points being made throughout the post that I decided I needed to record an episode.

Listen as I walk you through these common coaching criticisms, and offer my own thoughts and a different perspective. This is a nuanced discussion, and my hope is simply that you have more information to help you decide who you want to work with when looking for a coaching (or therapy) practitioner.
