I was lucky enough to be on a trip to Antartica, South Georgia, and the Falklands and have Alastair Fothergill on the same ship. He regaled us with many stories from the making of his many documentaries. Alastair is co-founder of Silverback Films making nature documentaries for clients such as BBC, Disney, and Netflix. Prior to Silverback Films, Alastair was head of the BBC Natural History Unit and has worked with David Attenborough on numerous documentaries. Among the many amazing documentaries to his credit are Life in the Freezer, Frozen Planet, and The Hunt. Alastair lives in Bristol in the UK with his wife Melinda. Alastair was gracious enough to grant me and interview, and here is our chat.
