In October 1984, Greg Mortimer and his expedition partner Tim Macartney-Snape became the first two Australians to reach the summit of Mt Everest. Awarded with an Order of Australia (OAM) for his services to mountaineering, along with three Australian Geographic Society Medals. Named as one of Australia’s 50 Greatest Explorers.
Yet Greg Mortimer is not resting on his laurels and past glories. One of the Founding Board members of the Lithgow Community Power Project, Greg is working towards turning the Coal mining town of Lithgow into a hub for renewable energy.
