Every year, the world seems to go faster. Noise floods our earbuds, and perfectly pictured people flood our timelines. In a culture of influence, you can find a ‘solution’ for this on every corner. Still, these ‘solutions’ also fail us. 'Let There Be Light' hopes to answer questions like: “how do I find purpose?” or “can there really be peace in the brokenness?” Hosted by journalist Mary Caltrider, this podcast goes beyond her usual 3 minute stories. By talking with vowed religious and inspirations, this show will reveal how even in the brokenness, you can still find the beauty.

Ep. 26: From Page to Prayer: The Story Behind “Places to Pray”

As a television producer, Patrick Murphy has earned six Emmys for his public television documentaries on the history and culture of the American heartland. He is the author of Candy Men: The Story of Switzer’s Licorice, The Irish in St Louis: From Shanty to Lace Curtain, and Places to Pray: Holy Sites in Catholic Missouri.

This week, I chat with Patrick about his books, his own conversion story, and his experience traveling to Churches across the State.

Following the interview, Nate and I share a glimpse into our own love story…which happens to include Patrick getting a flat tire. Enjoy!
