Jess and B are two black girls from the suburbs who have an interesting perspective on life. Growing up in a predominantly white community in south Texas, they have experienced prejudice for being "too white." After growing into their own, they have accepted themselves for who they are and they're proud of the women they've become. Hang out with them and have a glass of wine as they discuss current events that affect them both personally as black women and the communities they live in. But one you thing you can't do? Rewarding mediocrity.....again. A dialogue on the Varsity Blues scandal

As two black girls from the suburbs, this particular incident was incredibly interesting. Jess and B both work in underserved communities, B as a high school teacher and Jess works for the local government. Their backgrounds meant that the rampant privilege taking place directly affect those in the community that they work with. Many systems are set up to allow the privileged to prosper, ESPECIALLY in the education system, and it is about time that these types of incidents have come to the light. The disparities in society are only increasing and will continue to do so, unless something is done to promote equality and close the gap between the rich and the impoverished.
