One Year Later: Part 2
Hello Juicy Lemoners! We're taking a bit of a break this week so we're revisiting some of our favourite moments in the past year! Can you believe it's been almost a year since LEMON was launched?! Fighting anti-Asian racism in Australia Rising anti-China sentiments in the early days of COVID-19 led to an increased number of racist attacks towards Asian-Australians. In this segment, we discuss and share our experiences of the casual racism we faced but also talk about how many Asian-Australians actually don't know where the line is drawn for 'casual racism' because it's something that we've all grown up with and dealt with on a daily basis.  Why do Asian people Anglicised our names? In this segment, we explore why our parents decided to give us English names and why so many international students coming to Australia are encouraged by their teachers to adopt and Anglicise their names.  The Asian Black Problem Black Lives Matters has been one of the biggest movements of our generation but for the Asian community, it has always been viewed as a white vs black person problem. In this episode, we discuss why Asian pop culture and societies in Asia need to do better to further the discussion around colourism and BLM. Join in on the discussion on our socials!
