We"ll examine the justifications for the doctrine, including arguments based on economics, justice, and the protection of reliance interests. In addition to adverse possession, we'll go into the concept of prescriptive easements, a related legal doctrine that permits an individual to gain the right to use another's property for a specific purpose, but not ownership, after a certain period of use.
