The film ‘Coming to America’ is a classic, wouldn’t you agree?
The sequel ‘Coming to America 2' was released earlier this year and was praised for its amazing production, the cast, and the vibrant costumes displayed. African fashion was well represented, a mixture of patterns and fabrics across all the continents fused together to create a somewhat fictional dress code. That being said, not everyone was happy with how “African fashion” was used, renowned Nigerian Fashion Designer, Ugo Monye, popularly known for his signature “Ebuka” agbada that went viral, called out the makers of this movie for using one of his designs in the movie without permission.
In this episode, Lola OJ and Mandy discuss the legality of fashion design protection, how to enforce the protection, and the possible outcome of this case.
Of course, the ladies still gave a quick fun review of the movie before digging into the hard facts and legal provisions.
