أَحْلَى سِنّ

 بِنْتِي دِلْوَقْتِي عَنْدَها سَنَتِين، وِدَه بَحِسُّه أَجْمَل سِنّ فِي حَياة الطِّفْل. سَاعَات لَمّا بَشُوفْها وِهِيّ بِتِضْحَك ضِحْكِة الأَطْفَال اللي في سِنَّهَا، بَحْزَن شُوَيّة عَلَشَان عَارِف إِنَّها بَعْد فَتْرَة قُصَيَّرَة هَاتْبَطَّل الضِّحْكَة دِي. فَسَاعَات بَتمَنَّى إِنَّها ما تِكبَرش، فَبِهْزَار بَقُولّها: "كِدَه كِفَايَة.. بَطَّلي تِكبَري. إنْتِي حِلْوَة زَيّ مَا إنْتي."

مِن كَام يُوم وَأنا قَاعِد فِي قَهْوَة، لَاحِظْت قُرَيِّب مِنّي سِتّ و بِنْتَهَا. بِنْتَهَا كانِت مُعاقَة ذِهْنِيًّا وِ تَقْرِيبًا عَنْدَهَا ١٥ سَنَة. أُمَّهَا عَمَّالَة تِبْتِسِمْلَها وِ تدَلَّع فِيهَا: "يَا عَسُّولْتِي يَا قَمَرَايَة.." وِ كَلَام مِن ده. نَفْس الكَلَام دَه أَنَا بَقُولُه لِبِنْتِي. وِزَيّ بِنْتِي، البِنْت المُعَاقَة ضِحْكِت وِ ابْتَسَمِت وِ انْبَسَطِت.

وَقْتَها شُفْت أُمْنِيِّتِي حَقِيقَة قُدّامِي.

 بِتضحَك – bitḍḥak – she laughs ضِحْكَة – ḍiḥka – laugh/giggle

 ساعَات – sa‘āt – sometimes

بَحْزَن – baḥzan – I feel sad

 فَتْرَة -ات – fatra – period of time

بَطَّل / يِبَطَّل to stop or quit something 

 هاتبطَّل – hatbaṭṭal – will stopاتْمَنَّى - يِتْمَنَّى to hope - to wish

 بَتمنّى – batmannā – I wish

كِبِر - يِكْبَر to grow - to get bigger

 ما تِكبَرش – ma tikbarsh – doesn’t grow up

 بِهزار – bihizār – jokingly / playfully

 كِده كِفَايَة – kida kifāya – that’s enough

 بَطّلي – baṭṭali – stop (fem.)

قَعَد - يِقْعُد to sit  - to stay 

 قاعِد – ‘ā‘id – sitting

لَاحِظ - يِلَاحِظ to notice 

 لاحَظت – lāḥaẓt – I noticed

 مُعَاقَة – mu‘āqa – disabled

 ذِهنِيًّا – zihniyyan – mentally

تَقْرِيبًا – taqrīban – approximately

 عَمَّالة – ‘ammāla – continually / keeps doing

ابْتَسَم - يِبْتِسِم to smile 

 تِبتِسملها – tibitsim-lahā – she smiles at her

دَلَّع - يِدَلَّع to pamper - to spoil 

 تِدَلّع – tidalla‘ – she pamper / dote on

عَسُّولَة-  عَسُّولَتي – ‘asūltī – my sweetie

 قَمَرَايّة – ’amrayya – little moon (endearing)

 كلام من دَه–  kalām min dah – words of this sort

 انبَسَطِت – inbasatit – she enjoyed / was happy

أُمْنِيّة- ات  – umniyya – wish

حَقيقَة – ḥaqī’a – reality

قُدّامي – ‘uddāmī – in front of me
