5G is the next generation (5th generation) of wireless technology for mobile devices like smartphones. 4G LTE (for 4th generation Long Term Evolution) is currently the fastest technology and used in almost all smartphones and cellular networks in the United States and most countries around the world. It might replace the need for WiFi in many locations since 5G can be as fast as WiFi speeds.
