Beyond Healthcare in the Hinterland: How Dr. Shobha George is a Ray of Hope in Rural Odisha
Dr. Shobha George has devoted her life to serving the poor through the Asha Kiran Society, an NGO in the picturesque district of Koraput, Odisha. Growing up in a devout Christian family in South India, she embraced Jesus’s lordship early in life, which guided her decisions, from pursuing a medical career to choosing her life partner, Dr Ravi George, who shared her commitment to serving the Lord.
Despite facing significant challenges, including a battle with breast cancer at the age of 34, her unwavering faith led her and her family to the Asha Kiran Society. There, they found themselves not only running a hospital but also engaging in various community projects, from education to agriculture, in a remote area with limited resources and support.
Her story is a powerful reminder that God’s grace is sufficient, regardless of the hardships we face. Through personal trials and professional challenges, her faith remained steadfast, leading to remarkable achievements and a deeper understanding of God’s purpose for her life.
