IG: @lauonthego1 | lauonthego.com Welcome to Lau On The Go, a podcast about all things “on the go.” This pod will start in the travel space, but I’ll definitely be covering other topics like gluten-free eats & mental health. My goal is to encourage a life full of energy & adventure… & honestly, I want people to feel a little less alone in the world. I’m just a twenty whatever year old who has traveled to 20+ countries & lived in 4 cities. I’ve learned a lot about travel hacking & met smart af people along the way. I hope you feel inspired to take risks, follow your dreams, & stay on the go.

Episode 05 of Lau On The Go! So excited for this ep with my newer friend that I met in Costa Rica, Lou. Louis is on a longer-term, year-long travel adventure chasing all things ☀️sushine☀️ and 🧘yoga🧘. He has been to 9 countries within the last 11 months, and as you can imagine, he has collected a loooottttt of stories and tips + tricks. So, this will be a 2-part episode!

Check out Louis' "hidden gem" faves (*cue Julia Fox*), as mentioned on the podcast, below. :)

You'll definitely learn a lot during these two episodes, especially if you're interested in traveling within Latin America and Southeast Asia. From prepping for your trip (everything from medical preparation to evaluating subscription services to how to pack), to sharing ideas on how to meet people and go with the flow, to exploring unique experiences and volunteer opportunities... this is not an episode to miss.

Stay tuned for part 02!

Louis' Faves:

Colombia: Caño Cristales (aka the Great Barrier Reef of Colombia, look up the photos *swoons*), Real City Tours in Médellin - @medellinexperience was Louis' tour guide, Theatron (the largest nightclub in South America)

Mérida, Mexico: the best hostel ever - Hostik Mérida (less than $15/night if you stay in a dorm!)

Kuet Chang, Thailand (near Chiang Mai): Elephant Nature Park volunteering experience

Timestamps:

2:20 intros

3:55 the catalyst to Louis' global travel journey

8:06 strategy on choosing countries, packing, & prepping to leave

15:26 medical preparations & cancelling subscriptions

19:54 costa rica (yoga retreats, dengue fever, slower paced-travel, jungle parties, volunteering, and midnight shakshouka)

33:56 colombia (caño cristales, finding unique experiences, learning about coffee, and pulling back the curtain on the drug trade)

45:31 guatemala, or maybe not? don't forget to renew your passport!

46:29 mexico (dia de los muertos, setbacks not existing, the best hostel ever, and lou's hostel tips)

53:38 a brief intermission in the states

54:15 off to asia

55:22 thailand (majestic Elephant Nature Park volunteer experience, meeting & traveling with new friends, full moon party, motor bikes, regional gastronomy, no chopsticks?!)

1:09:14 stay tuned for part 2!

xo babes,
Lau
