Remembering Legendary NBC Sports Analyst/Commentator Bob Trumpy | LWOS Media Podcast
Former NBC Sports legendary football analyst and broadcaster of the Olympics and Golf, Bob Trumpy, passed away over the weekend and we pay tribute to him on the" Last Word on Sports Media Podcast."
Host T.J. Rives is joined by special guests Ken Fang of Awful Announcing and Phil De Montmollin, sports broadcast historian and more, to recall the memories of Trumpy's decorated career.
From transitioning from playing in the NFL for the Bengals to local sports radio in it's early days in Cincinnati in the 1980s, Trumpy then got a huge career break in the early 80s to work for NBC Sports NFL coverage.
T.J., Ken and Phil reminisce on hearing him on TV and also NBC Radio with fellow legend play by player Don Criqui calling games on Monday Night Football. Trumpy worked two radio Super Bowls with Criqui and later got the ultimate promotion to work two more of them on TV for NBC with Dick Enberg in 93/94.
There are also great stories of Trumpy working the Olympics for NBC and the famed PGA Tour coverage and the Ryder Cup, as well.
