Blake Rudis is a USAF Combat Veteran and classically trained artist whose creative roots began in painting, printmaking, and sculpture before his focus shifted towards photographing the American landscape. After earning his Bachelor in Fine Art from the University of Delaware, Blake discovered photography in 2006, blending his deep understanding of aesthetics and colour theory with his growing passion for the natural world.
Through his platform, f.64 Academy, Blake has become a respected voice in the photography community, helping thousands of photographers elevate their post-processing skills. Known for his wonderful Photoshop® workflows, Blake’s teaching emphasizes the artistic side of editing, encouraging photographers to see beyond the technical and embrace creativity. His collaborations with companies such as Topaz Labs, Plotagraph Pro, and ON1 reflect his influence across the industry, while his self-published work further showcases his dedication to education and artistic growth.
In this conversation, Blake reflects on his path from traditional art forms to photography, sharing insights on colour theory, the role of editing in shaping a vision, and the evolving challenges photographers face in a digital era shaped by AI. He also discusses the balance between shooting in iconic landscapes and maintaining personal artistic expression, offering valuable lessons on creativity and resilience.
