The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crimes 2021 world drug report states that about 225 million people globally use drugs in the year leading up to the report and 36 million people suffered from drug use disorders. Furthermore, a 2018 report by the UNODC reveal that there were about 14.3 million drug users in Nigeria at the time and close to 3 million people suffer from a drug use disorder.
It isn't new news that drug abuse is prevalent in Nigeria affecting many people all across the country, we've seen several reports and documentaries that have covered this especially in recent years but what is it like to go through a drug addiction and survive it?
Our guest on the podcast today is David Folaranmi, he suffered from a crack Cocaine addiction for many years and his story is chilling to say the least.
