Light Up Night at State College
We will be doing multiple episodes today only to celebrate our being part of the State College borrow tree lighting, ceremony. The Peaceful Kingdom Farms is delighted to be a part of the enchanting Light Up Night in State College, PA, a celebration that holds special significance for Michael, a proud PSU alumni. As the holiday season approaches, we invite you to join us in spreading warmth and kindness. This year, our focus is on supporting the State College School District, particularly the students of State College High, which holds a special place in Michael's heart, with an estimated 120 students facing homelessness and many others experiencing financial difficulties. If you feel inspired to make a difference, we encourage you to visit ProjectLagniappe.org. We've been actively collecting personal hygiene items to donate to those in need. Your small act of kindness can make a significant impact on the lives of students and staff in our community. Follow our journey on all our social media platforms, and stay tuned for a possible live broadcast and podcast episode on the Lagniappe Podcast. We believe that kindness is a ripple effect that starts with individuals and can transform communities. Bring your whole family to join us for an evening of joy and community spirit! The festivities kick off with free trolley rides starting at the plaza, exploring downtown from 5 to 8 p.m. The Makery will be hosting a free craft activity from 5 to 7 p.m., ensuring there's something for everyone to enjoy. Lions Club will be providing free popcorn and hot cocoa, and Juana’s is offering a 10% discount on menu items from 5 to 8 p.m. Find warmth inside Tempest Studios, located at 140 Kelly Alley behind the plaza, at the warm-up station. Don't miss the highlight of the night—the annual holiday light show, designed by Nittany Entertainment, which will debut at 7 p.m. and continue to illuminate the season. On South Allen Street, exciting new features await, including an artisan market and live reindeer sponsored by Growing Tree Toys, Lion’s Pride, and Harper’s. The entertainment lineup includes local music and dance groups on stage, Tempest Productions street performers, drawings by Monster D, and balloon animals by Nittany Balloons. Local businesses will be serving up delicious treats. Auntie Anne’s will have pretzels for sale, and Way Fruit Farm will bring its hot cider. Enjoy free coffee and stickies courtesy of the Corner Room and free food from the YMCA’s Travelin’ Table. Warm-up stations can be found at the Squirrel & Acorn Bookshop, 103 S. Allen St., and Kish Bank (offering hot cocoa), 114 S. Allen St. In the spirit of giving, families are encouraged to bring a toy for Toys for Tots or a non-perishable food item for the YMCA Backpack Program. Collection stations in the MLK Plaza and on South Allen Street will be open until 7 p.m., and participants will have a chance to be the lucky child who lights the tree with Santa at approximately 7:30 p.m. Take a stroll to the "Enchanted Forest" on Locust Lane, where you can vote for your favorite trees decorated by local nonprofits. The nonprofit with the most votes between Nov. 16 and Dec. 3 will win a $1,000 gift card. For more information about State College’s Light Up Night, visit the event’s Facebook page or the Downtown State College Improvement District’s website. Let's come together, celebrate the season, and make a positive impact on our community!
