Créée au Rwanda à la suite du génocide de 1994 contre les Tutsi et légalement reconnue par le gouvernement rwandais en tant qu'organisation non gouvernementale en 1995, l'Association des Veuves du Génocide (AVEGA) Agahozo, littéralement traduite par "Association des Veuves du Génocide Agahozo", a travaillé pour l'ensemble du pays afin de créer des forums de guérison, de soutien mutuel et de développement économique et social des veuves du génocide.

Madame Dancille Mukandoli, membre fondatrice de l'AVEGA, se livre sur les enjeux des femmes survivantes dans les premières années après le génocide, puis 30 ans après le génocide, dans une discussion, animée par Jessica Mwiza, chercheuse et militante de la mémoire.
