Sara Ahmed – Setting the Table: Reflections on How Tables Matter (EN)

EN – For the 2024 edition of the Free School programme, Kunstenfestivaldesarts invited artists, thinkers and activists to question the space of the kitchen table as a place for sharing food, a place where stories converge, but also a culmination of a history of domestic labour that is often invisible. This lecture by Sara Ahmed, author of Queer Phenomenology, explores how tables matter – from writing tables to kitchen tables to conference tables. By using the table as a starting point for reflection, she questions the way in which power is experienced and questioned in everyday life and in institutional cultures.
