For the first episode of the new season, we delve back into the research world here at the university. At the university, a plethora of topics are researched, many of which have already been discussed in one of the previous podcasts such as episode 8 of season 5 with Marta Gil Perez. The topic that we haven’t discussed enough of yet is steel structures and structural health monitoring. While the built environment is steadily moving toward more bio-based construction methods, the performance, reliability, and maintenance of steel structures remain crucial topics, especially for infrastructure like bridges, wind turbines, and rail systems. To discuss this topic we have asked an assistant professor in this field at the Eindhoven University of Technology to talk with us today, Davide Leonetti. Together, we will dive into this fascnating field of the built environment. Questions like “ What are the current developments being made regarding steel structures and SHM?” and “ How do you balance between experimental testing vs. numerical modelling for assessing fatigue and residual life of steel elements?” will be discussed as well as Davide’s past and current project. Season 5, Episode 10 of “Kunnen we het maken?”. In de vorige aflevering spraken we met Laurens Ensink van BAM over de houten woonconcepten van de Flow-woning. We doken met Laurens dieper in het ontwerp, onder andere het proces, de uitdagingen, de fabricage en de uitvoering. Het was interessant om te horen welke uitdagingen er zijn bij het ontwerpen van een modulair concept, en hoe een concept uiteindelijk steeds beter wordt.
Iets waar we het niet veel over hebben gehad vorige aflevering, maar wel van belang is voor het succes van woonconcepten zoals de Flow-woning, is het automatiseren en digitaliseren van het ontwerp- en fabricageproces. In deze aflevering duiken we in de nieuwe manier van werken en staan we stil bij de digitale transformatie binnen de bouwsector. Samen met onze gast verkennen we hoe deze technologieën in de praktijk worden ingezet, welke kansen én uitdagingen daarbij komen kijken, en hoe je deze digitale werkwijze succesvol kunt implementeren in je organisatie.
Onze gast van vandaag is Ramon van der Heijden. Na een internationale carrière in onder andere New York en Hongkong, is hij inmiddels terug in Nederland, waar hij bij Heijmans werkt als directeur digitale transformatie en implementatie. Met zijn brede ervaring en strategische rol in de sector is hij de uitgelezen persoon om met ons in gesprek te gaan over dit onderwerp.
