In Ukraine, the ongoing war has left millions with trauma and PTSD — many unresponsive to traditional treatments. Can psychedelics be part of the healing process? Tadeusz Hawrot is dedicated to integrating psychedelic-assisted therapy into the ordinary healthcare system, connecting Ukrainian advocates and mental health professionals with peers across the psychedelic field worldwide.

Globally, mental health conditions cause more years of poor health than heart, lung, kidney disease, cancer and diabetes combined. Effective treatments exist. The need is urgent, and communication is essential in the process of building new infrastructure for mental health.

Komfolk recently met with Tadeusz in Ukraine to talk about the role of storytelling in successful advocacy and policy work. He is the founder and executive director of PAREA, the Psychedelic Access and Research European Alliance, now working to get psychedelic treatment into mainstream healthcare.
