Discussions on Palestine in the U.S. are always framed as a “conflict”, when the issue is not really a matter of two equally matched opponents, but rather the occupation and extraction of resources by Israel that has displaced Palestinians from their homes. Although Palestinians still in Palestine and those spread throughout the world continue to face challenges from the Israeli state, Palestinians continue to resist, persevere, and uplift each other, their traditions, culture, and homeland.
We will be in conversation with a Palestinian who has asked to go by “Shireen”, in honor of journalist Shireen Abu Akleh, who was a renowned Palestinian-American journalist who was assassinated by Israeli forces while on the job. Our guest’s voice has been distorted to protect them from the doxxing tactics often used to silence activists. At KSB, we are committed to amplifying the voices of marginalized communities across the globe and we believe that it is imperative that voices like Shireen’s are heard. We are appreciative of having Shireen on the podcast and hope you’ll take a listen, learn, and share.
