The end of 2022 was really difficult for me, I was in debilitating pain, so much so I was struggling to walk. As someone who works out all the time and loves to move, this was devastating to me. By April 18th, 2023 I would undergo 5 hours of surgery and get diagnosed with Stage 4 Deep Infiltrating Endometriosis. I discuss some of the major symptoms I had and how I advocated for myself until I found a doctor who would listen to me. I speak about how difficult the road to recovery both physically and mentally was probably the hardest thing I've ever dealt with in my life.
I sit down with Dr. Kelly Sadauckas, DPT, OCS, WCS who is a pelvic floor therapist for Endometriosis Awareness Month to bring awareness to this complex and complicated disease that actually isn't so rare. I shed light on how important and vital pelvic floor therapy was and still is a major part of my recovery success.
This is about my story and how I will use every ounce of my voice to bring forth awareness to Endometriosis and that you are indeed your best advocate. And that you can heal and feel good again, I feel like I got a second chance at life.
And always remember, an educated patient is an empowered patient.
